Just A Quick 23 Hour Plane Trip

A little over 2 days and here I am, finally sitting in my apartment in Thailand. My first flight took off from Detroit on the way to Tokyo for a quick layover. The total duration of the first flight was 13 hours. I knew that the flight would be a tremendous success as the lady seated next to me proceeded to take off her extremely smelly shoes immediately after boarding. After watching all three Hobbit movies and landing in Narita Airport, I rushed across the terminal only to find out that the flight to Bangkok had been delayed an hour...so all that running was for nothing. I decided to check out, but of course not buy off of, the very interesting McDonalds menu that they serve in Japan. I really wanted to see if all the rumors were true! Well, they were, and they even tried to pass off a crab sandwich as an "American style" burger.

The flight from Tokyo to Bangkok was a little more difficult to get through because of the time change. Yes, there was a severe level of tiredness...but once the flight was over, and after finding where I was supposed to go after exiting the plane, it was about 200 times simpler than I, or my parents for that matter, had made it out to be. Once I made it out of the baggage claim it was even easier to find the driver and meet a handful of the very friendly CIS Abroad students.

I couldn't be happier with the accommodations here at Mahidol! The room is so spacious, which does make me miss home a little more with a whole place to myself. This whole experience never actually felt real until walking into the apartment complex. I can't wait to walk around in the daylight tomorrow. I won't even mind sweating my butt off a little bit. Photos to come!
