The Climb Up Ghost Tower - A Haunted Tale

Sathorn Unique Tower, or as the locals know it, Ghost Tower, is THE creepiest unfinished skyscraper in all of Bangkok. Feeling very risky, a few companions and I had to pay off the guards to gain access, climb up a rickety, old ladder, and crawl through a hole in the concrete in order to climb the haunted tower. After climbing up 57 flights of decaying stairs in complete darkness, we finally made it to the top. The sights from so high up were unimaginable. Our spooky expedition was well worth the energy and the fear!

With rumors concerning everything from ghosts, to murders, to other suspicious deaths, the building has gained a particularly eerie feel. The architect of the skyscraper was arrested for attempted murder and in 2014, and the body of a Swedish backpacker was found hanging within. Exposed infrastructure gives the tower a post-apocalyptic look. Planned as a high-rise condominium complex, construction of the building was halted during the 1997 Asian financial crisis, when it was already about 80 percent complete. It is now among the most prominent of Bangkok's many derelict buildings. In fact, piles of debris make it difficult to spot holes in the floor. Pieces of the ghost tower occasionally fall into the streets below as it descends into neglect.
