Day 1 in Thailand is now COMPLETE! In this 95 degree heat, the new CIS Abroad students and I tackled our very first orientation into the program, where we learned everything there is to know about our stay here in Southeast Asia. MUIC staff came in to teach us a few important Thai phrases that I am sure will come in very handy while traveling, ordering food, and using public transportation this upcoming semester.
Some Bundit kids and I took a cab over to Salaya's shopping area following orientation, . Here, where we were able to grab the last few necessary items for our apartments and take a look around at different Thai goods and shops. It's crazy to see all of the different kinds of foods and drinks that are available here that we have never even heard of before! Such fun! We are hoping to make some good use of the beautiful view of the city upstairs after dinner.
Tomorrow we will have out Mahidol orientation, where we will finalize our classes, take a tour of the campus, and hear a bit more about our program from the directors at the university. We will also be taking a field trip and tour of Buddhamonthon Park and Sampran Riverside this Wednesday! I can't wait! More to come...
